My Dear Parishioners,
Today’s meditation: Prayer. What is prayer? The first answer of our Catholic spirituality is: Prayer is a dialogue with God. When we pray God speaks to us and we speak to him. During the prayer we should listen to the words of God more than to speak to Him. After listening, we should give the answer - YES - to His will. Jesus taught us how to pray. He gave us the Lord’s prayer, Our Father, where we say “Thy will be done.” The best prayer is the acceptance of God’s will in our lives and total surrender to it. God answers all our prayers; maybe not immediately or in our time but, He answers at the right moment and in His time. Sometimes He doesn’t even give to us what we want, but always He gives to us what we need to be in future heaven with Him.
Jesus says in today’s Gospel, “Ask and you will receive...seek and you will find...knock and the door will be opened for you.” Very important in prayer are faith and trust; total trust in God’s providence and mercy brings grace from the heart of Jesus when we pray. “How much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
My friends, prayer is the way in which the Holy Spirit walks toward us. When we pray, He is coming to heal our lives. I believe that if we would spend more time in the church praying before the Blessed Sacrament, our lives would be healthier, peaceful, and filled with love.
I pray for you.
Fr. Józef
